MARIAM MUHAMMAD ISSA is a Volunteer Support Officer under PeaceJam Program at Great Lakes Peace Centre. She participated in the United Nations Women Survey under Great Lakes Peace centre, the survey was conducted in November 2019.
Mariam graduated from Makerere University Kampala with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Majoring in Sociology and did Social Work and Administration as a Minor.
Mariam is compassionate and has devised ways of fighting mental illness or slavery among people, that is to say, healing those in despair, and those who have failed to be ressilient. She has done this physically, both one on one and online( Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram) with those affected with mental slavery.
Mariam likes literature, traveling, building rapport. In her free time, she watches educative movies or series, and likes watching cartoons and comedy, just to put a smile on her face, she says ‘Smiling is an anti-aging therapy’
Mariam believes that nothing is impossible if one is determined, and that struggles are inevitable, therefore she’s not afraid of struggles, she faces them with much Trust in The Almighty, and with much strength and hope, and this has made her achieve majority of her goals, she does not give up, and she loves Barack Obama’s slogan of “Yes We Can”. Yes, she believes she can, and this has made her promising.
