As a Peace builder in one or more of our activities to contribute to a peaceful society.
Volunteering with us can be in many forms. For starters, you can volunteer during one of our events, in one of our online sessions as you get to learn more about what we do and how we work. We also usually recruit and deploy volunteers on some of our long term programs. This in a way helps us mentor you and prepare you for employment opportunities at GLPC or any other of our partners.
This guide will help you find out what is possible and how to begin volunteering.
Things you will need
What type of cause or organisation would you want to associate with?
A good way to start is to list the sort of cause or organisation you would like to help. For example, working with us, requires you to understand that you want to work with and for the young people. Perhaps you could help with the mobilization or even ushering at some of our events.
List down the skills you have to offer.
Do you have IT skills, team playing skills, teaching, creative, caring, fundraising, organizing or perhaps you are good making friends. Probably the most important attributes for you to volunteer with GLPC are commitment, common sense and the ability to work in a team.
Work out how much time you can give us.
Be clear about how much time you want/are able to volunteer from the outset. Also be clear about other roles and responsibilities you have, so that from the outset expectations are set appropriately. Don’t forget to think about the travel time involved.
